Journalist, voice actor, advertising and radio host Javier Gamboa received two SOVA awards in the Spanish radio section, as part of the tenth edition of the Voice Arts Awards, American awards that are considered the Oscars for voice artists. It was Sunday, December 10, 2024 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California.

Do you recognize him? He is the voice of the commercial for the painkiller X-Ray Dol, which tells the story of ‘Lucha’ and ‘Rafa’, who suffer from headaches until they try medicine. But he is also in numerous other projects.

Gamboa, who started his career in 1996, was nominated in 3 categories and won in two: best radio picture, as the official voice of Like FM, RTP96.5 FM, Vibra FM, Olímpica FM and the best radio promo with a spot from RTP96.5 FM to support the selection before the World Cup forFootball in Qatar 2022.

“I am extremely excited because it is in the category of radio image and radio promotion in Spanish, a passion that started in 96 and has given me everything in life,” Gamboa wrote on his social networks.

The Society of Voice Arts and Sciences, based in New York, United States, created these awards in 2013 for people from voice and acting industry in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Afrikaans, Arabic, Japanese and Mandarin.

The organization, headed by Rudy Gaskins and Joan Baker, awarded the honors Eugenio Derbez, Viola Davis and Mabel Cezar. In addition, industry personalities such as Joe Cipriano, Colman Domingo, Marie Westbrook, Raúl Aldana, Valentina Latina, Juana Plata, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Dave Fennoy, Marta Escobar, Alessandra Rosaldo, among others, attended.

Among the winners of the evening were Bono from U2, Meryl Streep, Debbe Hirata, Stephanie Németh-Parker, Vero López Treviño, Lili Barba, Memo Sauceda, Abelardo Oseches, Yadira Aedo, Maclovia González, David Santana, Yaha Lima, Catalina Plata, Mario Córdova, Yopa Ponce, Sara Delgado.

Fabian Toro, Ximena Viver and Patricio Bautista also won for Ecuador. Raul Hernandez, He lives in Australia, and collaborated as a producer on one of the winning entries in the English radio category. (AND)
