For many, holidays are a time of reconciliation, but not everyone is willing to make this gesture and live in harmony with others. Although it is said that all disputes end on Christmas Eve, this is unfortunately a fiction. One of our readers admitted that she hasn’t gotten along with her husband for years and she realizes that even the holidays won’t change that. Despite everything, every year he hopes that something will change.

For me, the holidays are the worst time of the entire calendar year. All because I live in a marriage that gives me no joy, but rather pain, suffering and a lack of will to live. My husband and I have been living side by side for 10 years. Every year we delude ourselves that the holidays will bring us closer, but this is a fiction. We don’t sleep in the same bed and we rarely talk. We feel no interest in each other and we don’t care about anything. I know our emotions get passed on to our children, but we can’t do anything about it. I’m ashamed to admit it, but I don’t think we love each other anymore. We cannot decide to divorce because we are afraid of bureaucracy and divorce proceedings. I think about it even more during the holidays. I feel like my life is vegetation.

I feel sorry for the children the most, but I think they would be happier if they didn’t see their parents living next to each other. Instead of talking, we shout at each other.
