We usually prepare a lot of different things for the holidays: salads, cakes, dumplings or a board of homemade specialties. Even though we give some of it to our loved ones or take it with us to guests, there are still a lot of unused products left in the fridge. One of them is ham. You don’t have to use it later for sandwiches or keep it in the fridge for a special occasion.
What can ham be used for? Make a snack for New Year’s Eve
We celebrate New Year’s Eve almost immediately after Christmas, and it is a great opportunity to prepare meals from what we have left. Regardless of whether you stay at home under a blanket or go to a house party, you will definitely need some snacks. Instead of buying ready-made products in the store, take the ham you have left over from the holidays from the fridge. Add a few other things and make a delicious paste. Later you can spread it on bread or crackers. What will you need?
- 400 g ham,
- 4 eggs,
- Parsley (a bunch),
- 3 dried apricots,
- 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise,
- Spices: salt, pepper, ground sweet pepper, Provençal herbs.
What to do with a lot of ham? Don’t throw away, just use
Put the eggs in a pot with water and cook for 6 minutes. They should not be fully hard-boiled. This will make the paste fluffy and perfect for spreading on a sandwich. Then blend the ham in a blender. Chop the parsley and apricots. Pour all the ingredients into a bowl, season with the above-mentioned spices and put in the fridge overnight. Ready! The next day the paste will be perfect to eat. You can also spread slices of ham with cream cheese and place cucumber, peppers or pickled mushrooms on them. Then just roll them up and your New Year’s Eve snails are ready.
