As a unique gift describes Consuelo Hidalgo to works of art. The cultural manager and owner of her own art shop confirms that giving a painting or sculpture is an act of love that shows what that person means to the other. And this Christmas is a great opportunity to do it with loved ones.

Artists invite you to dialogue with your emotions about life and your fears in the exhibition ‘Yo soy’, at the Guayaquil Country Club

“A work of art has a whole background, a study, a story, and it has an energy that it conveys to us, whether through the composition or through the colors”mentions Hidalgo, who has in his collection works by contemporary artists who have won several painting salons.

Hidalgo, who considers herself a storyteller, gives personal advice to anyone who seeks her out to purchase a painting. “My paintings are not merely decorative, but they sell a story behind it, and it is something very personal, because people have to connect with that work. Then you have to try the work in the person’s home because the lighting is different, the environment is different and the person has to feel comfortable with that,” says the woman who remembers the first painting she ever painted in her life bought was one of the Roberto Noboa.

There are currently approximately 50 paintings for sale. To contact her, you can visit her Instagram page: @consuelo_hidalgo_art.

David Orbeadirector of Under space, Remember that a work of art is undoubtedly an ideal gift for these and other dates. “Beyond the aesthetic level, the content of a work invites us to think, investigate and learn more about the background of what the artist wants to talk about.”

The visual artist also confirms that Guayaquil is the main market acquiring works of art. “In Guayaquil there is an emerging market that is quite interested in emerging art.”

The main mission of this cultural space is to make visible the work of emerging artists. That is why the catalog contains illustrations, photographs, paintings, sculptures and drawings by exponents such as Andrea Moreira, Ricardo Bohórquez, Carlos Figueroa, Byron Toledo, Kimberly Yagual, among other things. You can consult the varied catalog via the Instagram account @espacioonder, where you can also make an appointment to view the works in person.

How do you choose the ideal job?

The first thing to consider when choosing this type of gift is the budget. Depending on this, you can choose an oil painting, an acrylic painting, a watercolor, a screen print or a sketch. “You have to look at the person’s taste, whether he/she is more contemporary, whether he/she likes more figurative things, or more abstract shapes, or what kind of colors he/she likes”explains Hidalgo.

Among the best-selling authors, the manager mentions the Gavilane’s family, Miguel Mera, Raymundo Valdez, Chay Velasco and Jimmy Lara.

Giving a painting or sculpture can be a traditional act that comes from the parents of a newlywed couple, as they see it as a perfect detail for the new home. “In these cases they buy a lot of contemporary art from me, with colors, geometry, trends,” there stands that.

You can also take into account whether the person you are going to donate the painting to is a collector of a particular artist in order to continue this hobby. What could be more ideal than that, right?
