Grażyna Błęcka-Kolska graduated from the Łódź film school in 1984, and four years later she gained great fame thanks to the role of Katarzyna Solska in both parts of the “Kogel-Mogel” series (1988 and 1989) directed by Roman Załuski. Years later, she appeared in the latest, both continuations of the classic production (2019 and 2022), and now the fifth part is coming. In the meantime, however, life did not spoil her and acting had to take a backseat. You will find more interesting texts on the home page.
Moments of glory and suffering. Two events changed everything
Privately, the actress was associated with director Jan Jakub Kolski for 21 years, and apart from sharing their life together, they also worked together in front of the camera. For her role in “A Wonderful Place” (1994), she even received an award at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia, and for “Jasminum” (2006) she “won” the Golden Horseshoe at the Wakacyjne Kadry festival in 2006. However, after their joint successes came a painful breakup of the marriage after 21 years, and the real tragedy in the actress’s life happened 4 years later, in 2014. Błęcka-Kolska lost her beloved daughter Zuzanna in front of her own eyes.
On the way to the New Horizons film festival in Wrocław, the car the actress was driving skidded, and the collision turned out to be fatal – the daughter sitting next to her suffered serious injuries and died. Doctors failed to save her. The star of “Kogla-Mogla” had not yet had time to put her life back together after the breakup, and a huge tragedy had just happened.
I consider myself a tough competitor because I put up with my husband constantly falling in love. So when he told me once again that he was in love, I stood up and fell down, stood up again and fell down again. My body couldn’t stand it. And then I thought, “I’m either going to die or get a divorce
– Błęcka-Kolska confessed years ago in “Zwierciadło”.
A time of reflection and therapy. She found solace in returning
Such a brutal series left a mark on the actress’s life not only in her private life, but also professionally, because she decided to quit her job for several years due to a nervous breakdown. Despite this, she could count on the support of her closest friends, family and ex-husband.
Błęcka-Kolska turned the loss of her beloved daughter into establishing the “Fabryka Sensu” foundation, which supports talented youth. As her child was an extremely talented photographer and video creator, in 2016 she organized an exhibition of her previously unpublished works at the “New Horizons” festival. It also helped soothe her pain from such a great loss.
She returned to the screen in 2018 in the film “Pardon” directed by her ex-husband, and she treated her participation in it as a kind of therapy. They dedicated the work to their daughter, and the actress received an award for her performance at the festival in Gdynia. A year later, she joined the series in a heartbeat, and a moment later she made a spectacular return to the role of the iconic Kasia Solska in the third part of “Miszmasz, i.e. Kogel-Mogel 3”, and last year in “The End of the World, i.e. Kogel Mogel 4”. Soon, next year he will appear in the 5th part of the best-selling series.
