In most Polish homes, this is the time when we sit down at the table with our loved ones and feast. After all, you have to eat all the dishes carefully prepared over the last few days. Traditionally, there should be 12 dishes on the Christmas Eve table, but many families abandon this custom. Not only because in the era of rampant inflation, food prices have also increased dramatically, but there are limits – no one can eat that much, food should not be thrown away. Plus, society is increasingly aware of the health risks posed by overeating particularly heavy, high-calorie foods.

Not everyone can exercise moderation

Although the memory of feeling bad after last year’s Christmas Eve feast has not yet faded from memory, it is quite certain that some people will overdo it with the amount of food this year. Abdominal pain, nausea, flatulence – these are just some of the ailments that occur in such a situation. And the fact that traditional Christmas Eve food is hard to digest certainly doesn’t help and our digestive system experiences torture later. However, there are ways to deal with the belly, like the balloon, which makes this holiday time miserable for many people.

Three ways to deal with bloating after overeating

When the promise you made to yourself to be moderate at the table turned out to be ineffective and you suffer from gas, it is worth trying one of three proven methods.

Cumin infusion: Pour a teaspoon of ground cumin into a glass, pour boiling water over it and cover. After fifteen minutes, strain and drink. Cumin will fulfill a similar function when added to food, so it is worth adding it to Christmas Eve cabbage or soup.

Large amount of water: it is worth drinking it in the morning if we know that we will eat Christmas delicacies in the late afternoon.

Walk after eating: When you feel that you have overeaten and start to feel bloated, do not sit on the sofa or armchair. On the contrary – go for a short walk. Even a small amount of exercise will help you deal with annoying flatulence.
