It all started in 2009, when the singers debuted on the album material Be happy it’s Christmasfollowed by two more albums: Be happy now that it is Christmas (2014) and Be happy! Christmas greatest hits (2017). Also the simple Sing glory (2018). From that moment on the Show of the choirs, composed of students belonging to the singing and music academy The biggestit’s called Rejoice.
“It amazes me that this handful of songs, about twenty songs, with Christmas carols, is still being heard after fourteen years. It’s an honor for a composer. The number of presentations is also much larger than what we have had in recent years. For me it is really an enormous joy, because what I do, when I compose, I do in the hope that someone will really like it,” says Bohórquez.

The famous Guayaquil composer is a big fan of Christmas carols, his favorite revealed in this interview is The drummer. “They are legendary songs from many years ago, there is always room for new Christmas music and also for new Christmas carols. It is difficult and complex (to write this kind of music), but after 14 years I realize that the audience finds the space to listen to new proposals in this style.’
Jorge Luis Bohórquez hopes that the same emotion he feels during these performances will captivate more followers during next Friday’s performance. Every year new artists participate in the concerts and on this occasion it is possible to see Mar Rendón, Jorge Luis del Hierro and Gianpiero on stage, accompanying the choirs.

“People will come away moved, because it’s music that reminds them of Christmases past, memories of when they were children or teenagers… We see people very moved, crying. The point is that the message never changes, whether it has been a bad time or whether we are living a bad moment. We live in one of the most turbulent cities in the world. When you listen to this music you are filled with hope and positivity.”
