King Emeritus Juan Carlos I and Infanta Elena surprised the world by showing that they both hold an unusual farewell ritual.
The first-born celebrated her 60th birthday on December 20 at a restaurant in Madrid with the royal family, an achievement at a time when there are rumors of Queen Letizia’s alleged infidelities, the Spanish press reports.
When it was time to part, Infanta Elena and her father began to perform some sort of synchronized movements.

The event was attended by Kings Felipe and Letizia, as well as Queen Emeritus Sofia. However, Felipe’s two daughters remained absent. So far, it is known that the crown princess is working hours at the military academy in Zaragoza. About his sister, Infanta, it is only known that she finished high school, says Onda Cero.
Ritual of Juan Carlos and Infanta Elena
After leaving the birthday dinner, Infanta Elena approached her father to kiss him on the cheeks with traditional European kisses. The surprise came when he suddenly began his ritual, beginning with a bow to the King Emeritus as he raised his hand to his head.

Then both participants in the fun moment crossed their fingers on their foreheads, shook hands in three different ways and finished with a few pats on the left shoulder of their “adversary”.

Portal La Razón reports that this greeting is synonymous with the close relationship that has always existed between Infanta Elena and King Emeritus Juan Carlos. Proof of this is that the 60-year-old is still very close to her father, even now she often visits him in Abu Dhabi, the place the pensioner chose as his official residence.
Currently, Juan Carlos is 85 years old, and for three years (as of 2020) he has not visited Madrid often. He travels only on special occasions to “facilitate” the work of his son, King Felipe VI, El Economista quotes. (AND)
