Jonathan Majors guilty of assaulting his ex-partner. This is the end of the star’s Marvel career

Jonathan Majors was found guilty in a violence case. Representatives of Marvel Studios immediately announced that the actor would not appear in the company’s next productions, even though he was supposed to be one of the key characters in the universe. What’s next for the MCU movies?

Star Jonathan Majors has been found guilty in a violent crime case. The verdict was delivered by a six-member jury. After four hours of deliberations, jurors announced that the actor had committed “third-degree reckless assault and harassment.” The two charges dismissed were third-degree intentional assault and second-degree aggravated harassment.

Majors faces a sentence of up to one year in prison. However, the exact penalty will be announced on February 6. This does not mean that the star will not feel the consequences of his actions sooner. Marvel representatives did not wait long to make a statement on the matter. According to The Hollywood Reporter, immediately after the jury’s decision was announced, representatives of Marvel Studios said goodbye to the actor and stated that the star would not appear in the studio’s next productions, including the film “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty”, scheduled for 2026.

The verdict will significantly affect subsequent MCU productions. Jonathan Majors has been playing the role of Kang since the first season of the series “Loki”. He was to become the main villain of the new Marvel films, Thanos’ replacement. The actor also played this extremely complex character in the second season of the above-mentioned series, where he showed his previously unknown face, and in the film “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania”, which also premiered this year.

Marvel Studios now faces a big challenge. The studio may recast it so as not to waste the image of the powerful character of Kang the Conqueror, which has been built over several productions. Another option is to introduce another villain into the universe. It is said that an alternative to Majors’ character could have been Doctor Doom, known from the Fantastic Four films.

Jonathan Majors was charged over the events of March 25 this year. The actor then called the emergency number and reported that he had found Grace Jabbari, his former partner, unconscious in the apartment. When the police arrived, they discovered a cut behind the ear, a broken finger and numerous bruises. Jabbari testified that she was injured while riding in the car with Majors.

The woman claimed that the former partners’ quarrel started with a message she noticed on Majors’ phone. The message was “I dream of kissing you.” Jabbari admitted that she reacted emotionally, wanted to snatch Majors’ phone, and that’s when the actor got angry. He allegedly twisted a woman’s arm and broke a finger to get her cell phone back. When she wanted to get out of the car and run away, the star allegedly pushed her back into the car.

The actor’s defense emphasized that Majors used force for the benefit of Jabbari, who was not safe in the middle of a busy street. The incident was recorded by local surveillance cameras. The former partner did not file charges against Majors, the state of New York did, so the case was a criminal trial – not a civil one.
