Is going to the movies alone weird? I can finally say no. This morning I dared to see the “folk film” at Supercines and there are no words that can explain the mix of emotions I experienced for two hours when it was just the screen, me and my desire to (out of emotion) fight against the Scaloneta.
The first ten minutes of Guys, the people’s film They reminded me of a distant 2012, when I got close to my father while watching an FC Barcelona match and my eyes jumped when I saw the talented Lionel Messi And Javier Mascherano.
I grew up with TV and bonded with my father over our love for it Messi; I’ve been a fan ever since the flea and lover of his selection. I always watch videos on YouTube or TikTok about the Argentine ’10’, but I never get tired of reviewing the beautiful story of the “left-handed boy” from Rosario.
That’s right, the first part of this movie Jesus Braceras focuses on the birth of a star and his rise to fame. From playing innocently on the dirt courts of his hometown to making his debut at the legendary Camp Nou Leo Messi He grew up to be one of the best players of all time.
But of course the film, as the name suggests, is about the most important moment in the footballer’s career: when he became world champion. And then today, a December morning, the film took me back in time, exactly one year, when I turned on the TV to watch the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
‘Guys, now we’re excited again’; the song that moves the Argentinian team
A look back at the seven matches of the Albiceleste is what is relived in this film: the tragic defeat against Saudi Arabia, the hope that Mexico gave them, the victories against Poland and Australia, the battle against Netherlands and the iconic ‘What are you looking at, idiot? Go ahead”, the semi-final against Croatia and the final that dethroned France.
It was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions, because even though I already knew the outcome of every match, my palms were still sweating, my heart was beating out of my chest… and I’m not even Argentinian. She didn’t feel the fear alone: she shared it with the fans who also shouted for a goal and hope through the screen.
