After 50 years of work, he decided to retire. He sold the company and moved to a farm

Ernst Prost has followed several different paths in his professional life. He started out shining shoes and repairing mopeds, and over time he serviced and sold swimming pools. This is how I managed to make my first big money. Years later, he joined a company selling car care products, which helped him become the sales manager at Liqui Moly in 1990, which he later bought. The company belonged to the Henle family, and Prost gradually came to manage the business run by the quarreling father and his two sons. Finally, in 1998, Ernst Prost bought out Liqui Moly.

Managing such a large company was a challenge for the man, which he loved to take on every day. – I had completely synchronized meetings from seven in the morning to seven in the evening – he recalls in an interview for “”. He worked 16 hours a day and was available to his clients even in the middle of the night. – Work was everything to me. It was my hobby, my obsession, he admitted. – It was excessive, it was the biggest addiction I could satisfy in my life – said Prost. That’s why, after decades of running the business, he decided to sell the company. The idea of constantly developing it stopped exciting him, so he retired. His fortune is currently estimated at approximately EUR 400 million.

In retirement he had to learn life. Without a partner, chauffeur or assistant

After retiring, however, the man’s life turned upside down. After 15 years, his partner left him, and after selling the company, Ernst Prost bought a mountain farm, which he transformed into a villa that suited his dreams. He lived there, but the lack of a chauffeur, significant other and assistant did not go unnoticed. The man had to learn the simplest life activities, such as throwing bottles into a vending machine and buying at the supermarket. “Even a shopping cart is a challenge,” he admitted. He didn’t know that he could only take a shopping cart after placing a coin in it. Apart from that, he tries to keep his life peaceful. He rides a motorcycle and sometimes even allows himself to do absolutely nothing all day. – Now I sit on the terrace and look at the cows – he says about how he spends his time.
