The FILQ (formerly known as the Quito International Book Fair) will be held from December 15 to 19, from 10:00 to 20:00.
For five days Metropolitan Cultural Center (CCM) will become the main stage for the Intercultural Book Festival Quito (FILQ) 2021, formerly known as the Quito International Book Fair.
This year, the cultural meeting is organized entirely by the Municipality of the Metropolitan District of Quito; after thirteen years of being developed by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage.
The FILQ 2021, which comes under a face-to-face and virtual format, It is proposed as a cultural and artistic meeting that brings together local and national cultural and literary groups, enterprises, industries and collectives.
“The main objective is to encourage the reactivation of a sector (literary and publishing) that has been severely hit by the pandemic, as well as the entire cultural sector”, the organization states in a statement.
According to the statement, this edition will have as The main axis is the work of independent writers, artists, publishers and booksellers who have kept the country’s cultural production alive in times of crisis.

This edition will feature the exclusive presence of Ecuadorian authors, such as Mónica Ojeda, Eduardo Varas C., Gabriela Ponce Padilla, Roy Sigüenza, Sonia Manzano Vela, Solange Rodríguez Pappe, Natalia García, María Paulina Briones Layama, Roxana Landívar, Santiago Roldós, Siomara España Muñoz, Ángela Arboleda Jiménez, Cecilia Ansaldo Briones, Gabriela Alemán, Javier Vásconez, among others.
In addition, a special tribute will be offered to Juan Valdano, Jorge Velasco Mackenzie and Eliécer Cárdenas, deceased this year.
The FILQ will be held from December 15 to 19, from 10:00 to 20:00. The entrance is free, reserving it by ellibrodelagente.com, since there will be a capacity of 50%. The use of a mask is mandatory.
