The several-hour delay of Romeo Santos’ concert in Caracas last Sunday, December 11, exposed a scandal that shocked many.

The bachata exponent planned to perform at the La Carlota military air base, east of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. However, due to problems with the organization of the event, the artist was only able to go on stage at 4 o’clock in the morning on Monday, December 12.

When he went on stage, the artist apologized to his followers and said that he had never had such a serious delay “in 25 years of his artistic career”.

He also reproached the organizers of the concert for being irresponsible and disrespecting him, his musicians, his technicians and the audience. According to El País newspaper, the singer expressed his anger and disappointment at what happened.

The case did not stop there, it caused a great controversy on social networks and with the Venezuelan authorities. Attorney General Tarek William Saab has announced that he will open an investigation against the concert organizers for alleged crimes of fraud and deceit. In addition, he revealed that one of the organizers is a “businessman” who is in prison for drug trafficking.

A Venezuelan prosecutor reported that Panteras Entertainment and Global Boletos Venezuela are two companies linked to the organization of the recital, which will be investigated “for causing damage and abusing the goodwill of fans of the singer Romeo Santos”, he reported in X .

Saab emphasized that in the investigations they were able to identify Juan Carlos Araujo, a businessman imprisoned for drug trafficking, who participated in hiring Santos in Caracas.

Araujo was a partner in Solid Show, an event production company and, according to the prosecutor, that company “used to launder drug money.”

According to El País, in 2020 the authorities of the Dominican Republic seized 459 kilograms of cocaine on a plane owned by Araujo, who was arrested for this incident.

Araujo is currently serving his sentence in El Rodeo prison located in the state of Miranda. However, the director of this prison, Argenis Guerra, also fell before the face of justice.
