Contemporary Western, Marguerite Duras and Cinema and Science, on the Tabakalera screen in 2024

The International Center for Contemporary Culture of San Sebastián Tabakalera today presented its film season for 2024, organized by Donostia Kultura, San Sebastián Festival, Filmoteca Vasca, Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola and Tabakalera.
On January 17, for example, the cycle will begin Nosferatu, contemporary Western USA 1962-2021 with the projection of Duel in the High Sierra (Ride the High Country, 1962), directed by Sam Peckinpah, which will continue until December Silverado (Lawrence Kasdan, 1985), Dancing with Wolves (Dances with Wolves; Kevin Costner, 1990), No forgiveness (Unforgiven; Clint Eastwood, 1992), The power of the dog (The Power of the Dog; Jane Campion, 2021)…
The cycle will be accompanied by the publication of two books, one in Spanish and the other in Basque. First, Western USA 1962-1992, has been coordinated by Carlos Aguilar and Pablo Fernández, and will be published at the beginning of the year. The second, coordinated by Iñigo Marzabal, will be published at the end of 2024.
The seventh edition of the Cinema and Science cycle, organized by the Basque Film Library in collaboration with the DIPC (Donostia International Physics Center) and the San Sebastián Festival, will begin on January 11 with the screening of Oppenheimer (Christopher Nolan, 2023).
In spring the Klasikoak cycle will take place, which will rescue masterpieces from the history of cinema; and in July, the seventh edition of Jazzinema. 2024 will end with Basque Filmmakers IV, a meeting to highlight the work of Basque female filmmakers.
Starting in January, cinema and literature will intersect in Tabakalera with the writer and filmmaker Marguerite Duras as the axis. The cycle will consist of a monthly film session related to the writer and filmmaker, along with a presentation by a writer. The first guest will be Miren Agur Meabe, who will offer a session on the film on January 12 The Truck.
From January 13 to February 24, the entire filmography of Belgian director and screenwriter Bas Devos will be offered, and filmmakers such as Fermin Muguruza (December 17), Jaione Camborda, Isabel Herguera and Ion de Sosa will explain their work face to face with the public.
The Tabakalera movie voucher will offer entry to 40 films for 120 euros. The voucher can be purchased from December 15, 2023 at 12:00 noon, until January 31, 2024 at 12:00 noon.
