surprised this year with its series offer. A number of episodic stories have appeared on the platform, which deserve attention thanks to their great cast, production and script ideas. These include, for example, “The Fall of the House of Usher” – a series inspired by the stories of Edgar Allan Poe, the very fresh “Awantura”, and “Bodies” which neatly combines crime and sci-fi. 2023 also looked equally interesting in terms of Polish productions.
Series on Netflix. Popular productions from 2023
The platform offered viewers “Infamia”, which explores contemporary Romani culture, and “Absolute Debutants” – a series focusing on the problems of growing up, devoid of artificial dialogues and unrealistic dilemmas – which received very good reviews from critics. On December 13, “1670” will debut on Netflix. An uncompromising comedy about the Polish nobility that may stir up annual summaries.
It is also no secret that Polish viewers love crime stories. Currently, at the top of the most popular series productions available on Netflix among Poles is “Murderczynie”. This is another series based on the novel by Katarzyna Bonda, the story focuses on a Warsaw policewoman involved in a murder investigation.
“Feedback” has been a hit on Netflix for a month. It is a film adaptation of Jakub Żulczyk’s novel
“Feedback” is also causing a sensation on the most popular streaming platform in Poland. The series about a retired rockman who sets out to search for his missing son debuted on Netflix on November 15, 2023, and since then the production has remained among the most frequently watched series on the platform in Poland. It is currently in third place, beating the first season of “Squid Game: Challenge”, the final season of “The Crown” and the first series of “Massacred”.
The painfully realistic series is based on the book of the same title by Jakub Żulczyk and is another film adaptation of the best-selling novels of the famous author. The series, which is simultaneously a drama, a thriller and a crime story, is primarily an in-depth study of alcoholism and a masterful performance by Arkadiusz Jakubik, called by critics the “creation of a lifetime” in the actor’s filmography.

The production was appreciated not only by viewers, but also by critics. “Great on the emotional level,” writes Michał Piepiórka, “it will tear out your hearts and break it into a thousand pieces,” sums up Łukasz Muszyński from Filmweb, and Marcin Radomski appreciates it for its “lack of showiness”, “psychological depth” and “concert performance” of the main actor. Fans of the film adaptation of Żulczyk’s novel will probably be happy to know that Netflix is working on another adaptation of the author’s book to the screen. This time it was one of the most extensive stories in terms of the number of pages, titled: “Hill of Dogs”.
