Donald Tusk, who will be sworn in as Prime Minister within several dozen hours, already announced before the elections what his government intends to do with the public media. For the last eight years, many have considered them to be PiS’s propaganda mouthpiece. However, this is about to change. – We will need 24 hours for TVP to become public television – Tusk announced.
The revolution in TVP will happen soon. “Wiadomości” is to disappear like “Dziennik Telewizyjny” once did.
All this could happen this week. And although no one officially says what specific changes will take place, Agnieszka Kublik from “Gazeta Wyborcza” managed to find out the details. It turns out that a real revolution is about to happen in Polish Television! Moreover, the plans are very ambitious and some changes are already being slowly implemented.
The article “” shows that an important position in the new TVP authorities will be given to Tomasz Sygut, who managed the Television Information Agency in 2011-2015. Then he left TVP, along with several other directors, just before the appointment of a new management board of the company, of which Jacek Kurski soon became president.
Sygut would again be responsible for the information and columnists department at Telewizja Polska, so he would supervise the work of the editorial offices of “Wiadomości” TVP1, “Panorama” TVP2 and the TVP Info station. However, the flagship television daily broadcast by Jedynka will most likely gain a new name. According to the author’s interlocutors, the current one is too closely associated with the ongoing propaganda.
Yes, we have an idea for a new name, but it’s too early to reveal it. It is discredited and cannot be saved, comments one of the publishers.
“Gazeta Wyborcza” also reports that the composition of the future editorial offices is almost complete, and nothing that was known in “Wiadomości” so far will not appear in the new daily. – A new beginning, new scenery and new faces. The search for presenters is ongoing, some of them used to appear in the TV news program One, now they work in other places, it is not certain whether they will want to return to TVP – says the source of “Wyborcza”.
There will be no returns from before 2016. And the first days of the new TVP may be… different
However, we should not prepare for the return of journalists such as Piotr Kraśko, Beata Tadla or Diana Rudnik, who were the faces of journalism on TVP before 2016. – There will be no return to 2015 – says the interlocutor, and adds that the changes will also apply to publishers, reporters, and editors, whose last movements can be observed while covering the court day in the Sejm.
Agnieszka Kublik’s text also mentions that the new editorial staff does not trust the people who still work at TVP. They are to remain in an “atmosphere of uncertainty”. – It’s very easy to ruin a live show. We are aware that the greatest threat is inside, not outside – says a person who will soon start working at Telewizja Polska.
For this reason, future owners of public media are considering various scenarios. There may even be an option to record programs in advance on the first days or even to resign from broadcasting the TV news on one day, in order to arrange everything down to the last detail and be sure that the new quality will appear at its best.
Moreover, according to reports, the person who will manage the main television news program at TVP1 will be Paweł Płuska. The journalist has been associated with “Fakty” TVN since 2001, and previously gained experience, among others, on RMF FM or Radio ZET. According to the website, changes can be expected this week, but next week is more likely.
