The National Broadcasting Council has just granted a license to the Roman Catholic parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Tarnobrzeg. The Catholic Television Serbinów channel, as a community broadcaster, was exempt from paying the license fee.

As reported by virtualmedia.pl, the National Broadcasting Council has just adopted a resolution regarding the religious channel from Tarnobrzeg. Catholic Serbin Television. The television license available on YouTube will be valid from November 21 this year to November 20, 2033. The station will broadcast a minimum of 4 hours a day, and programs on socio-religious topics will constitute at least 75 percent. weekly broadcasting time. The rest of the time will be devoted to local information from Tarnobrzeg and the surrounding area. Viewers of Serbinów Catholic Television can count primarily on broadcasts of Holy Masses, pilgrimages, programs addressed to supporters of the traditional family model, as well as broadcasts and reruns of the most important local events.

Fee exemption. In return, no ads

The first Internet television license was granted on October 22, 2013. At that time, the broadcaster was also exempted from the mandatory license fee (it amounted to PLN 2,000), and the agreement expired after 10 years. Although the application for a new license should be submitted by the broadcaster at least a year before its expiry, Telewizja Katolicka Serbinów applied for it only in June this year, and in August it completed the application in full.

The current fee for granting a license is PLN 2,414, but some broadcasters may be exempt from it as a community broadcaster. Such a decision in the case of Internet television was also made by the National Broadcasting Council, and stated that: “The applicant indicated in the program assumptions that the nature and subject matter of the program will shape patriotic attitudes, promote local traditions and national culture, and build a community among the recipients based on the Christian value system” – announced the chairman of the National Broadcasting Council, Maciej Świrski. The broadcaster cannot present advertising content.

Interestingly, although Radio Maryja was also exempt from the fee, Father Rydzyk’s television station, TV Trwam, has to pay it. However, the channel will not pay PLN 12.9 million as before, but only PLN 6.78 million due to the reduction in airtime devoted to advertising.
