The success of the production was undoubtedly determined by the star cast, including: , Jan Frycz or , who played the main character. Few know, however, that she was given the role almost at the last minute. In an interview with the portal, she admitted that although the author of the novel herself was trying to get her involved, the producers were completely unconvinced by the idea and did not consider her candidacy. – She repeatedly suggested my candidacy to the decision-makers, i.e. the producer and director, and kept mentioning that she thought I should play it. She asked me if I had received the offer and if anyone had already called me, but they were not interested, recalled the actress. What was the reason for this?
They were supposed to play Judith from “Never in My Life”. Why was Stence finally given the role?
The main criterion that the director took into account when selecting the cast was age. According to him, Zatorski initially planned to entrust this role to Małgorzata Foremniak, who was then 37 years old, which is exactly the same age as the film’s Judyta. Apparently, Agnieszka Krukówna, Dominika Ostalowska, Anna Samusionek, Dorota Sedga and Anna Radwan were also candidates, but ultimately they were not the ones who were given the script. – Later it turned out that the girls chosen were a decade younger and from a different age group. She was worried whether the audience would like her performance, but, as it later turned out, it was completely unnecessary. – It was difficult, but it was also fantastic. It was difficult when I didn’t trust myself and had the impression that maybe I shouldn’t play this role, she said years later.
