Cleaning a washing machine is not a difficult task, but it does require some patience. You should not only turn the device on washing mode, but also thoroughly clean all the nooks and crannies to get rid of any remaining dirt. If you look into the filter or remove the seals, you will see that in some cases a gray, unpleasant gunk can accumulate there.
Gray goo in the washing machine. Where does slime come from?
Gray substance that smells unpleasant may accumulate in the detergent drawer, between the seals and in the filter compartment. This is the so-called sludge, i.e. remains of washing agents, fabric softener and pieces of fabric, fur and hair. The accumulated dirt begins to accumulate, which may adversely affect the operation of the device. So if you notice gray gunk in your washing machine or you simply haven’t cleaned it for a while, you’d better start washing it right away. Otherwise, dirt may clog the drains or even destroy the device. How to wash them? Running a standard cleaning cycle may not be enough, and here comes the help.
How to get rid of sludge from a washing machine? Two reliable ingredients come to the rescue
TikTok user @auroramccausland showed how she cleans a washing machine that hasn’t been washed for over six months. The device had accumulated sludge and a lot of other dirt that needed to be removed. Aurora started by draining the water from the small hose next to the filter. Then she cleaned its interior with a small, precise brush, removing any remaining dirt. She removed the filter, washed it under running water, and washed the sludge accumulated in the washing machine chamber with vinegar. Finally, she reinstalled the filter.
The next step was to spray the drum seals generously with spirit vinegar and wipe them thoroughly with a cloth. It is worth remembering to remove clutter from every nook and cranny. After that, Aurora takes out the detergent drawer and cleans it with vinegar as well. Then he reinstalls it in the device and pours two glasses of spirit vinegar into the powder chamber. He pours a glass of baking soda into the washing machine drum. The device prepared in this way starts the washing cycle at the highest possible temperature. Afterwards, the device is perfectly clean. In the comments section under the video, there were many words about cleaning washing machines. Some didn’t even know to do it.
Oh god, I haven’t done this since I bought the washing machine almost 2 years ago… Now I’m scared!
I didn’t even know I had to do this…
I just cleaned the washing machine and almost threw up.
