Danuta Holecka announced lawsuits! “There is an ongoing attack against me.” Is it? [OPINIA]

Danuta Holecka has been associated with Telewizja Polska for almost 30 years, but her career always gained momentum when people appointed by the right-wing government became the owners of public television. However, she received the biggest promotion at the station at the beginning of 2016, when Jacek Kurski became the president of TVP.

Then she became the main face of TVP’s “Wiadomości”, which has since been considered by many viewers to be the propaganda television daily of the United Right camp. However, their time in power is slowly coming to an end, and the democratic opposition ready to take power is announcing huge changes in the functioning of public media.

Holecka cools the atmosphere? On the contrary! There will be lawsuits and court cases

The mood in society around the planned changes in Polish Television is only growing. The biggest mystery for many is the future of Danuta Holecka.

However, Holecka herself has so far provided contradictory information and we still do not know when she will host “Wiadomości” for the last time. Although she gave a statement to the website, she decided not to comment on any media reports. Instead, she decided to announce the court battle she intends to fight because she feels “harassed.”

Madam, there is an ongoing attack against me, I am being hounded. I don’t want to comment on anything (…). No matter what I say, they will comment and write that I am a millionaire… No, I don’t want to say anything. I collect it all and go to court, said Danuta Holecka in an interview with the Świat Gwiazd portal.

Holecka’s fight for honor will do her no good. If she had decided to take a different step, she might have ended up with a bad face

I understand that Danuta Holecka is not in a comfortable situation right now. I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes now. However, when I hear that she wants to fight in court for her good name because “there is an ongoing campaign against her”, I would like to remind everyone that for the last eight years many social groups and people have been despised by the United Right government.

Danuta Holecka has been the head of TVP’s “Wiadomości” since 2019 and she certainly had a large part in shaping the narrative that baselessly attacks many Polish citizens. It was an openly biased message, often based on the simplest of instincts. She should take into account that she will be judged when the so-called good change will (eventually) be interrupted. As they say: There is action, there is reaction.

Apparently, this is how the journalist wants to fight for her honor. However, since she is so hurt by the ongoing media discussion about her, trying to defend her “rights” will certainly not make things quieter around her. Or rather, quite the opposite!

Moreover, we know well that Holecka was a journalist before 2016 who performed her work without any objections, so she is certainly aware of what public media should look like. Therefore, I believe that the truly honorable thing to do would be to apologize and admit your mistakes. I realize it’s nothing groundbreaking and it probably won’t happen, but I think it should sound like this:

Danuta Holecka does not deserve the hate she receives, but she should apologize to everyone! One word can sometimes be worth more than a thousand words.
