Christmas is one of the most beautiful times of the year, but for some people the magic is taken away by numerous expenses. It cannot be denied that December is a month when wallets are visibly thinner, and one of the reasons is high electricity bills. These, in turn, generate not only the light illuminations with which we decorate our homes. We hasten to explain.
December is spending time. What generates the greatest costs?
Without a doubt, everyone dreams of their loved ones finding their dream gifts under the Christmas tree, but in times of inflation, the prices of even small gifts can be dizzying, especially if we have more than one or two people to give. Electricity also generates high costs. This is due to the preparation of numerous dishes and baked goods, which require, among others: oven use. Decorations such as Christmas tree lights or other additional illuminations that decorate our windows, balconies or gardens also have an impact on the increase in fees. But that’s not all.
How much does a home screening of “Kevin” cost? We have specific calculations
When estimating the amount we will pay for electricity during the holiday season, many people forget about movie screenings, which are plentiful during this period. After all, most Polish families sit in front of the TV on Christmas Eve to watch the cult comedy together, according to an unwritten tradition. So how much does it cost? In the calculations, we do not, of course, omit the amount of the subscription fee for using cable, satellite or streaming services, as this depends on the contract we have signed with the provider. However, electricity rates are the same for everyone, although, of course, individual consumers will consume it in different amounts.
According to one of the creators on TikTok, in 2022 the amount to watch a video lasting 1 hour and 43 minutes was PLN 12.39. How is it now? According to the current electricity prices, we have to pay from PLN 94 to PLN 1.03 for 1 kWH. On average, a 75-inch LCD TV consumes 383W per hour, so the owner of such a receiver will have to pay about PLN 13.27 to watch “Home Alone”.
