This is the end of TVP’s “Wiadomości”. The future management of the station is planning big changes

The new coalition announced changes in the public media already during the election campaign. “Gazeta Wyborcza” revealed who, according to the plans developed, could lead Telewizja Polska and what changes awaited it.

Most likely, on December 11, the Sejm will elect Donald Tusk as prime minister. Throughout the election campaign, the politician emphasized that one of his priorities was to restore order in the public media. For Mateusz Matyszkowicz, president of Telewizja Polska, and Agnieszka Kamińska, president of Polish Radio, this means goodbye to their positions.

Who will be the new president of TVP?

“Gazeta Wyborcza”, who can become the successor of the current boss. “Nothing that has existed so far will remain,” the aforementioned daily quotes one of its future publishers. Donald Tusk is soon to appoint Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz as the Minister of Culture. He will have the power to suspend the presidents of public media and choose new leaders.

According to the findings of “Gazeta Wyborcza”, if the scenario planned by Donald Tusk comes true, Tomasz Sygut, who already worked at the station in 2011, will become the president of TVP. Four years later, he managed the Television Information Agency, but he resigned from his job to express his opposition to Law and Justice taking power.

There will also be changes in the TVP schedule. Sygut’s task will be to repair the station’s current image. New presenters, visuals and names will appear on the screen. “A new beginning, new set design and new faces. We are looking for presenters, some of them used to appear in the TV news program One, now they work in other places, it is not certain whether they will want to return to TVP” – “Wyborcza” quotes its informant.

The source assures that Piotr Kraśko or Beata Tadla will not return to the air. Another informant of the daily notes that in addition to TVP presenters, it will also name publishers and reporters. The future management also believes that the name “Wiadomości” has been discredited and is clearly associated with government propaganda. There are plans to change the title of the main news program on Polish Television, but no one has revealed it yet. However, introducing changes may take time, notes one of the new publishers.
