For the fifth year in a row, the Sony World Photography Awards opens its call for photographers to participate in one of the largest and most prestigious competitions in the world.

Naranjal International Student Film Festival screens 37 short films

This 17th edition, the Latin America Professional Award is presented, which rewards the best photo series in the region, in which all Latin American photographers who enter their photo series in the Professional competition participate.

In the same way there is the category National Award Latin America which recognizes individual photos that participated in the Open competition. This segment has below its prices a digital imaging equipment from Sony and the exhibition of his work at Somerset House in London, from April 19 to May 6.

“Sony supports the celebration of the awards to assist in the continued development of photographic culture and provide a global platform for today’s talents,” said a statement accompanying the awards.

There are also the Open and Youth Competitions and Student Competition categories.

Registration is completely free via www.worldphoto.org/sony-world-photography-awards. Photographers are judged anonymously by a panel of experts led by photographer Mónica Allende.

He Photographer of the Year receives a cash prize of $25,000; He Photographer of the Year of the Open competition And The winner of the Sustainability Prize will each receive a cash prize of € $5,000.

Sony’s guidelines indicate that the work of all winning and shortlisted photographers will be showcased at the annual Sony World Photography Awards exhibition in London and subsequently in various parts of the world. The winning images will also be published in the awards yearbook. (JO)
