Christmas is the most beautiful time of the year. A unique atmosphere, celebrating closeness and family traditions. Encouraging the youngest to write letters to Santa Claus and rising to the challenge to make their dreams come true. Unfortunately, this is also the most difficult time of the year for some people. Not everyone has a roof over their heads and a safe shelter, not everyone has enough money to survive from 1 to 30, let alone think about preparing for the holidays and buying gifts. They are overwhelmed by the thought that their children will have a sad and difficult fate.

When her house was spray-painted by dealers, she decided her children could no longer stay there
Maddy Baseley, a mother of two from Perth, admits she’s not even thinking about Christmas this year. Although the children secretly dream of gifts and a Christmas tree, the situation they find themselves in makes it completely impossible for them to do so. The woman can hardly hold back her tears every evening as she puts her children in the cramped camper. Until now, the family of three lived in a rented house in Gosnells. After 2 years, they were forced to move out. On the one hand, there were drug dealers who were constantly knocking on her house, and on the other, there were 5 rabid dogs, who kept jumping into her yard. It wasn’t a safe place for children.
Life in a camper is difficult. All three of them sleep on one mattress
The woman had nowhere to go. The only solution was to borrow a camper from his grandfather and live in the yard right in front of his mother’s house. Living in such a small space is extremely difficult. It is hot and crowded during the day and in the evenings. It can be so cold in the morning that it’s hard for her to wake up the children. They don’t have a single toy here because there is too little space for such things. Claustrophobia and lack of privacy give such a feeling of being overwhelmed that at times the woman no longer has the strength to cry. The crisis in the region where the woman lives makes renting a house almost impossible. There are almost 30 people waiting in line to see each house for rent. The woman tries to arrange viewings, even though she can’t afford it. An additional difficulty is that the law prohibits staying in a foreign country for longer than 2 weeks. After this time, the woman will have to move her camper somewhere so that she can return to her mother’s yard after another 2 weeks. So that the children don’t have their Christmas completely ruined, they will spend it with their dad. This is the only solution to somehow survive this time.
I don’t think my situation makes sense. I feel like I have failed as a parent to provide what I should have.
– says the desperate woman.
