Joanna Noëlle Blagden Levesque, known to a wider audience under the pseudonym Jojo, liked to be the center of attention, and on stage she felt like a fish out of water. As a 6-year-old, she was offered a contract with a music label, but her mother strongly opposed it. Only after participating in the program “America’s Most Talented Kids”, where she caught the attention of producer Vincent Herbert, did she seriously consider devoting herself to her career.

Eventually, Jojo teamed up with Barry Hankerson from Blacground Records and started working on her debut material. Her first album was released in 2004, and the album promoting it, “Leave”, quickly won the hearts of listeners and was placed at the top of Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40. It was a double distinction, because Jojo, almost 14 years old, became the youngest soloist on this list. Ultimately, the album sold over 3 million copies, earning the artist nominations for many prestigious awards, including: MTV VMAs.
Two years after her debut, Jojo released another album, “The High Road”, which turned out to be an equally big success, and the songs from it, “Too Little, Too Late” and “Anything”, became real hits. In the meantime, she also decided to try her hand at acting. She has played roles in several films, e.g. “Aquamarine” or “RV”, in which she starred alongside Robin Williams. However, music was still her priority. Her next album was supposed to be released in 2007, but due to problems with the label, she ultimately released only a mixtape and a few new songs.

After numerous adventures, Jojo returned to the industry only in 2014. She then terminated the unfavorable contract and found herself under the wing of the Atlantic label, which promoted her EP “III”, and a few months later she released her third album “Mad Love”. However, problems regarding different visions also appeared here. The singer once again broke the contract and started looking for new producers who would not impose their opinions on her and accept her ideas. In this way, she established cooperation with Warner Records, under which she released her fourth and so far last album, “Good to Know”.
On December 20, 2023, she will celebrate her 33rd birthday. She is active on social media, especially on Instagram, where she has gathered over 2.8 million followers. She willingly publishes fragments of her private life, photos and recordings from her concerts and work in the studio, and also promotes various types of charity campaigns in which she has been actively involved for years.
