Chamomile as a remedy for pimples and wrinkles

This is where chamomile, well-known and very popular, comes to the rescue. We most often consume it in the form of tea just before going to bed because it has a calming effect, just like lemon balm. Perhaps not everyone knows that it is also perfect for skin care. First of all, it has anti-inflammatory properties and fights free radicals – which in turn are one of the main causes of aging. When there are too many of them and our body is not able to cope with them, they lead to the formation of wrinkles, discoloration and even dry skin.

But that’s not all. As emphasized by, for example, “Poradnik Zdrowie”, regularly used home-made chamomile cosmetics will refresh the complexion, have a softening and brightening effect. It is best for sensitive and irritation-prone skin. Its soothing, anti-inflammatory effect is due to, among others, chamazulene and alpha-bisabolol content.

It also has an antiseptic effect. It fights acne lesions of the skin, accelerating its regeneration: for example, it can have a brightening effect on acne scars, soothe their outbreaks, and reduce redness and irritation. But not only. You’ve probably heard about chamomile compress for wounds, burns or ulcers, significantly relieving pain or itching.

The anti-wrinkle effect is due to vitamin C. That is why it is a common ingredient of eye creams – it brightens the skin in this area and eliminates the signs of fatigue. Chamomile is also a rich source of niacin (vitamin B3) – also necessary in anti-aging and anti-acne treatments.

Chamomile infusion and tonic

Below are two simple recipes for homemade chamomile cosmetics. The first one is simply infusion, which is also suitable for consumption. All you need is a tablespoon of dried flowers (they are best for this, but you can also use a few bags of ready-made dried flowers) and pour boiling water over them. We wait about 10 minutes for the drink to brew, then strain and cool. We apply it to the affected areas of the skin using cosmetic pads.

The recipe for is also popular chamomile tonic. Pour hot water over a handful of flowers and set aside to cool. It’s better to wait at least half an hour and then strain it. It is best to pour the mixture into a glass container. Wash the face, neck and cleavage with this mixture in the morning and evening.
