The eight finalists, prepared for the final of the Bertsolaris Navarra Championship

Navarra will have a new champion bertsolari starting on Saturday, December 2, as long as the champion Saioa Alkaiza does not revalidate her txapela. The final of the Navarra Bertsolaris Championship will be held this coming December 2 at the Anaitasuna pavilion in Pamplona.
Starting at 5:00 p.m., live on ETB4 and eitb.eus, eight bertsolaris will face off in search of the txapela: Eneko Lazkoz Martinez, Joanes Illarregi Marzol, Josu Sanjurjo Altzuri, Julio Soto Ezkurdia, Saats Karasatorre Martinez, Saioa Alkaiza Guallar, Sarai Robles Vitas and Xabat Illarregi March. One or one of them will be the 2023 champion.
Two of the participants, Saats Karasatorre and Sarai Robles, will sing for the first time in a final. Julio Soto, on the other hand, will experience his eleventh final, Eneko Lazkoz his eighth, Joanes and Xabat Illarregi his third, and Josu Sanjurjo and Saioa Alkaiza his second.
Two of the finalists already know what it means to wear the txapela: Saio Alkaiza is the current champion, after winning two years ago also at Anaitasuna. Julio Soto, for his part, has won the championship five times in 2010, 2011, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
The first part of Saturday’s final will be played by the eight bertsolaris. The two bertsolaris with the highest scores in the first phase will qualify for the second part of the final. The one who accumulates the most points once both events have been played will, finally, be the new Navarra bertsolaris champion. The winner will receive the txapela from the hands of Alaitz Rekondo Ferrero, who has left the position of president of the Nafarroako Bertsozale Elkarte association after twelve years in office.
Tickets are on sale on the Bertso Sarrerak website, and the final can be followed live on ETB4 and eitb.eus. In addition, ETB1 will offer, starting at 9:00 p.m., the second phase of the final.
