After Middleton appeared with the tiara on her head, the press began to deal with the history of this work, which, as Vanitatis mentions, spent almost a hundred years protected in the palace and away from the public eye.
The wife of the Prince of Wales William decided to take it out of “hiding” and show it at the gala ceremony in Buckingham Palace on the occasion of the visit of Yoon Suk-yeol, the president of South Korea, to Great Britain.

The Strathmore Rose Tiara came into the hands of the Queen Mother, Elisabeth Bowes Lyon, when she became engaged to the Duke of York and before she became Queen Consort. The piece was purchased by his parents from Catchpole & Williams, a London-based dealer.
When Elizabeth became the Duchess of York, she wore the tiara in several official portraits during the early years of her marriage, with the exception that she wore it on her forehead rather than on her head like Kate Middleton.

Spanish media describe it as a versatile gem as the flowers can be removed and used as brooches, although they can also be substituted for the five sapphires in necklaces.
Interestingly, Queen Elizabeth II never used it in public, as indicated Court jewelerdespite having inherited it from her mother in 2002. The jewel was kept under protection although it was believed that the bride could wear it at the wedding, but it was not so.
Now Kate Middleton is credited with bringing the piece back into the public eye nearly a century later.
