“One of ten”. The record in the program was set by Artur Baranowski
The 19th episode of the 140th edition, which debuted on TVP2 on November 22, 2023, will undoubtedly go down in Polish history. All thanks to the final, which took part, among others, Artur Baranowski. He did great from the very beginning, showing not only great knowledge but also quickness in guessing the answers. Ultimately, it was this participant who faced a pool of 40 questions, giving his competition absolutely no chance. He answered each of them correctly, obtaining 773 points and an additional 30 for saved chances. In total, he scored as many as 803 points, thus setting a historical record.
After the episode was broadcast, opinions about the participant were divided. Some congratulated him on his win, while others drew attention to his attitude and form of play. The objections concerned mainly the tactics he used, not allowing the other players to speak. How do his competitors remember the episode’s recordings?
The participants of “One of Ten” recall the recordings of the episode. How do they comment on the game?
The portal contacted Grzegorz Jarząbek and Adrian Pokrywczyński, who were also in the final. The first of them confessed that before entering the set, he saw Baranowski as serious competition. – Artur was an inconspicuous player, a bit withdrawn, so before the recording I classified him as potentially dangerous, and as it turned out later, I was right – he said, admitting that his opponent acted extremely impulsively and was fully focused on the game. – In general, he was very tense all the time, but also focused. (…) He volunteered before I could read what we were being asked about, and I didn’t expect such a turn of events to result in me reporting blindly. Later he didn’t let us talk to him again, he recalled. However, he was surprised by the winner’s attitude when the game was over, as he showed no emotion and quickly disappeared backstage. – After the episode, he was probably most surprised by what had happened, he accepted congratulations completely dispassionately and quickly went to fill out the documents – he said.
Adrian Pokrywczyński also had similar feelings, who admitted that he was very impressed by Baranowski and was very impressed with him from the very beginning. – Mr. Artur’s playing made a huge impression on me. After recording, I congratulated him several times in the studio, because what he did was an amazing feat – he said with sincerity. Although he doesn’t blame him for the way he conducted the game, he admitted that he felt more like an extra than a participant on the set. – I must admit that I’m not even angry that I didn’t respond, I was more amused by my and the other player’s inability to do anything that was visible in the recording. At the same time, I knew that something unusual and unheard of was happening, he concluded.
