Age spots are brown discolorations that most often appear on the hands and face. Although this is a natural and harmless process, it causes discomfort. Fortunately, the visibility of spots can be significantly reduced at home.

Age spots appear naturally with age and after many years of exposure to the sun. Over time, their number increases, they can also connect with each other and cover larger and larger parts of the body. Discoloration can usually be noticed on the forehead, nose, cheeks and the back of the hands. Contrary to appearances, you do not have to undergo laser therapy to reduce their visibility.

How to get rid of age spots on hands? Choose cosmetics with vitamin C

As a rule, spots appear on the body after the age of 40. They arise as a result of the growth of skin pigment cells. They are most visible in people with fair skin and constitute a cosmetic defect. There are special treatments for discoloration available on the market, but they are quite expensive and not always effective. First of all, it is worth reaching for the products you have at home. The key to success are things containing vitamin C, which is known for its brightening properties. Homemade peelings that exfoliate the epidermis, e.g. with coffee or sugar, are also helpful.

What to apply to age spots? Two simple and effective home-made mixtures

If you want to reduce the visibility of age spots, rub lemon or aloe juice on your skin and leave for half an hour. A mixture of 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar with 2 tablespoons of olive oil will also work very well. It regenerates, brightens discolorations and protects against drying. The mixture should be applied to your hands every day for 20 minutes. Before doing so, it is worth performing an allergy test on a small part of the skin. The second proven option is an onion-vinegar mixture. Blend a medium onion with 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar in a blender. Soak a cotton pad in the resulting solution and wipe the brown stains.
