This Thursday, the prosecutor’s office requested 9 years in prison for former FC Barcelona footballer Dani Alves, accused of the crime of sexual assault for allegedly raping a young woman in a Spanish nightclub.

On November 14, the court in Barcelona confirmed the criminal prosecution of the former football player Dani Alves.

After the testimony of the injured party and the witness ended, the court found that there was enough evidence to start the proceedings. In the tax request, compensation of 150,000 euros is requested for the victim.

The case alleges that former FC Barcelona footballer Dani Alves allegedly raped a young woman in a nightclub booth in Barcelona last December.

The state ministry is seeking a “nine-year prison sentence” for the player, as well as 150,000 euros ($163,000) in damages to the victim, for the alleged crime of “sexual assault with penetration,” according to a letter from the interim court. conclusions that AFP had access to this Thursday.

The prosecutor’s office is asking for another ten years of supervised freedom for Alves, after serving the prison sentence, as well as a ban on approaching and communicating with the victim during that period.

The document describes in detail what, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, happened in the bathroom of the reserved area of the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona, in the early morning hours of December 30-31 last year.

After the meeting in this part of the premises, which the former FC Barcelona winger already frequented, Alves would invite the young woman to enter another exclusive area where there was a small toilet, which she was not aware of.

There, the prosecution claims, the former player would show a “violent attitude” towards a young woman, whom he attacked and forced to have sexual intercourse, despite her resistance.

The victim, who after receiving medical attention that night ended up reporting the incident on January 2, is currently suffering from “post-traumatic stress disorder of global high intensity” for which he is being treated, according to the prosecution.

Considering that “there is enough evidence”, the Court in Barcelona decided to start the oral process against Alves at the beginning of November, but no date has yet been set for the start of the process.

Changing versions

The 40-year-old former side defender of the Brazilian national team of PSG or Sevilla has been in prison about 40 kilometers from Barcelona since January 20, after his first statement before the investigating judge.

Alves, who at first denied knowing the girl, changed his version several times during this time, but in the end he admitted that they had a relationship, albeit consensual, according to sources close to the case.

The woman’s version remained stable, and the judges of the court in Barcelona rejected various appeals by the football player’s lawyers who asked for his temporary release, stating, among other things, that there is a risk of flight.

On the same Tuesday, the Prosecutor’s Office once again opposed the athlete’s new lawyer’s latest request to await the trial in freedom.
