“Bread and Games” and definitely in Zakopane. It looks like the flagship event of Public Television will not leave its home. As reported by Onet, “New Year’s Eve Dreams” will take place where before, thanks to the intervention of the top members of Law and Justice.
In recent weeks, there have been a lot of rumors about changing the place where TVP’s flagship event will take place. Reason? The obvious one, namely financial issues. Zakopane’s budget did not include organizing such a large event. However, this time the city will not spend its own money on them. Initially, the authorities of Telewizja Polska expected Zakopane to provide at least partial financing for the New Year’s Eve concert, but both parties managed to reach an agreement.
We signed an agreement with the television station to “lease the land” to Równia Krupowa. TVP will take it over from us on December 12 and hand it back on January 30. They will have until May 30 for additional cleaning and possible recultivation of the meadow. Will the city pay TVP extra? I do not know

The final decision was to be made in the afternoon of Tuesday, November 21. According to Onet’s findings, already at 4 p.m. the Zakopane municipality received the contract signed by TVP for the organization of the concert. Any day now, the official signing of the contract between the mayor of Zakopane, Leszek Dorula, and the president of TVP, Mateusz Matyszkowicz, will take place in the light of cameras. So, as usual, it will be pompous.
It turns out that supporters of the New Year’s Eve party were not only the TVP representative office, but primarily the inhabitants of the “capital” of the Tatra Mountains. Behind the scenes it is said that the people who were most keen to organize the “New Year’s Eve of Dreams” were the highlanders who asked PiS politicians themselves for help. Several MPs from this party campaigned for the concert to be awarded to Zakopane, and they were supported by Beata Szydło herself, who currently sits in the European Parliament.
The apartments are already occupied and the stars have to sleep somewhere. Will they arrive from Krakow?
However, the question is how to solve the issue of accommodation in the city. The decision was made so late that people had already booked places in the best hotels, regardless of whether the “New Year’s Eve Dream” would take place there or not. We are talking about even several hundred rooms and apartments. It is rather doubtful that contractors would want to stay in guesthouses, of which most are available. Even access from Krakow, located nearly 100 km from Zakopane, is possible.
