How to whiten curtains at home? These methods will keep them looking like new!

Sun rays, dirt or even dust that settles on curtains can make them lose their snow-white color over time. When ordinary powder is no longer effective, it is worth reaching for. Regardless of which of the following methods we choose, remember that we wash curtains without spinning at a maximum of 30 degrees. Before putting it in the washing machine, it is also worth folding the curtains into cubes or placing them in a special bag.

How to whiten curtains with baking soda?

We can whiten curtains with baking soda. The first is to prepare a solution in a large bowl, for which we need 500 g of baking soda for 10 liters of water. We soak the curtain in such a mixture for several hours and then wash it in the traditional way. A slightly faster way is to add baking soda to the drawer in the washing machine. In addition to regaining the color, the curtains will also be softer to the touch, thanks to the softening properties of soda.

Baking powder or aspirin, which is an effective way to whiten curtains

We can also replace baking soda with baking powder. The entire package should be dissolved in 5 liters of water and the curtains should be soaked in such a solution for several hours. We will achieve a similar effect by dissolving five dissolved aspirin tablets in water.

Bleaching curtains with vinegar and table salt

Another way is not required. Add four tablespoons of table salt or half a glass of vinegar to 10 liters of water. After a few hours of soaking, we rinse the curtains and hang them on a curtain rod until they are completely dry. This method will also work for curtains made of synthetic fibers.

For a snow-white effect, use lemon juice

You can add a little lemon juice to the laundry or to a bowl of water and soak the curtain for several hours. After using this method, it is recommended to hang the curtain to make it even brighter. Lemon juice not only gives the curtains a whiter color, but also helps to get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke.
