The Mexican band Camila returns after 10 years of separation and celebrates this with two concerts in Ecuador

In mid-2020, Mario Domm, Pablo Hurtado and Samo Parra gathered at the former’s house to share a barbecue with the family, after not seeing each other in person for a long time.

“Mario and I didn’t know what kind of person we would meet after not living with Samo, but It was like resuming a film and meeting the brother of many years whom we adore and with whom we have experienced so many things,” confesses Pablo in an interview with Diario EL UNIVERSO when we asked him about the special event that led to this long-awaited film . yield.

“We’ve been working on new music since then, and it’s taken a long time, but this year it finally crystallized,” he adds. This creates the warm reunion of the trio that was separated for ten years (Remember that Samo became a soloist in 2013, so Pablo and Mario continued with the duo).

What did you feel when you got together?

Pablo: It was very nice to come together again after so much time and, while playing piano and guitar, to realize that this ensemble of voices and music really made us want to make music together again. For me, music is a way to express myself, to convey all my emotions, and that is essential. At the moment I feel very connected to her.

Mario: Samo is also in a very good moment. All three of us are having a great time and are happy to be back.

Is this return temporary or permanent?

Mario: The idea is to keep making songs, albums and music together. We are having a good time, we are having fun and the concerts are very energetic. We sing and play better, we feel maturity in the band and we are focused on what we do. Now the coming together is very nourishing and we are happy to return to the stages in all countries of Latin America. I’m very excited.

Pablo: We didn’t just want to do a reunion tour and that’s it, but return permanently.

How has Camila’s sound evolved?

Mario: Well, we are working on new rhythms and themes. We are sad, well that was why the songs are very sad, but we are happy. But here’s the thing, something painful, and there are some really bad ones cool on the Mexican music side and you’ll see it very soon.

Reminiscent of the times they visited Ecuador

Mario: Yes, I have a terrible anecdote (laughs). It’s a story that’s about 15 years old, it was when Camila was already doing better. They told us that now you can have security, so I relaxed a little. I never drink alcohol, but that night I said, “I’m going to relax, eventually I’ll have security to help me.” And then the plane opened and I literally got off with a man in my arms, and it was very painful. But that evening we gave a wonderful concert.

Pablo: I remember the last time we were with Sin Bandera and had a concert in Guayaquil. The truth is that it was incredible: the public never let us down in Ecuador. They always give us a friendly welcome. I’m looking forward to the new dates.

“It’s a tour we’ve been working on for several months,” explains Pablo, who adds that it was a challenge to find the right songs for the shows because if it were up to them, they would all play.

“We had to choose the most representative, and the one that people really enjoyed. So the show is like a tour of Camila’s entire discography, from the beginning to the most recent.
