What should the height of the fence be? Is the neighbor’s consent required to build a fence?
As the website points out, a permit is generally not required to build a fence in Poland. However, the fence cannot be too high and must also meet certain conditions. By law, a building permit is not required for fences not exceeding 2.2 m in height. You do not need your neighbor’s consent to erect it, provided that the fence does not extend beyond the boundaries of your plot. You can build such a fence without permission on your own plot where construction works can be carried out.
Above all, however, the fence cannot pose a threat to the safety of people and animals.
The regulations prohibit placing sharp-edged elements, barbed wire, broken glass and other similar products on fences at a height of less than 1.8 m.
