The temporary exhibition Emerald green women in Gutiérrez’s paletteby visual artist Rubén Darío Gutiérrez, is on display at the Esmeraldas Museum and Cultural Center.
The free exhibition brings together portraits of women who have made an important contribution to the development of Esmeraldas.
Open to the public since November 16, the exhibition aims to pay tribute to these characters, and reflects on the role of women in social, cultural, academic and political fields, according to the Ministry of Culture and Heritage. This proposal includes 22 works in oil on canvas and will be available until January 5, 2024.
Furthermore, in commemoration of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25), a replica of the ‘priestess’ of the La Tolita culture (600 BC – 400 AD) will be exhibited as work of the month.
This archaeological piece depicts a medium-sized female figure in a hieratic position.
In La Tolita culture, priestesses played an important role and varied that represented fundamental aspects of the religious and cultural life of the society.
The public can visit the Esmeraldas Museum and Cultural Center, at 427 Piedrahita Street and Simón Bolívar, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. (JO)
