Ackland was most popular with the Lethal Weapon series. In the second part of the film, the actor played the role of the bandit Arjen Ruddy, who wanted to kill Martin Riggs, a character played for years by Mel Gibson. One of his last film roles was Rufus from “Katherine of Alexandria”. He also played Sir Jock Delves Broughton in “The White Fever” and Andrei Lysenko in “The Hunt for Red October”.

This is not the only tragedy in the actor’s life. In 1963, Ackland and his loved ones experienced a great tragedy when their family home burned down. Rosemary managed to save five children, but to save herself – she jumped out of the window. From then on it was said she would never walk. However, persistence and consistency in rehabilitation meant that the woman not only got back on her feet, but even became pregnant again.
