The well-known cabaret festival has disappeared from Polsat’s schedule. Comedians, instead of politicians, were giving the station a hard time

Polsat announced the rebroadcast of the final gala of this year’s Rybnik Cabaret Autumn, but at the last minute the entry about “Ryjek” disappeared from the schedule. For the first time in years, comedians’ jokes included more references to the station’s behavior than to the political situation in the country.

Rybnicka Jesień Kabaretowa Ryjek can boast over 25 years of tradition. The annual festival consisted of competition performances by cabaret artists and a grand final concert with the participation of its winners, as well as the lineups of the Kabaret Młodych Panów and Zdolnych i Skromnych, which have been known to fans for years.

Polsat removed Rybnicka Jesień Kabaretowa from its schedule

In previous years, the final gala was broadcast on television. Also this year, “Ryjek” was included in the station’s schedule. The concert was supposed to be shown on November 26, but on November 16, just one day before the start of this year’s “Ryjek”, plans were changed. Instead of cabarets, Polsat added the film “Venom 2: Carange” with Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams to the schedule. As the Wirtualne Media portal found out, the contract obliges Polsat to show “Rybnicka Jesień Kabaretowa” as part of the promotion of the city, but we do not know the date of fulfillment of the obligation yet.

A similar fate recently befell “Cabaret Live, Młodzi i Morni”. The program was removed from Polsat’s schedule before the elections, but it has not returned to the air until today. “If we have something to say, we will say it,” Polsat spokesman Tomasz Matwiejczuk answers media questions.

“This situation has touched our entire community”

Meanwhile, 61 premiere skits and songs were presented in Rybnik – we read in “Gazeta Wyborcza”. “It’s a phenomenon. When we had a new program, we played it for five years,” said Tadeusz Drozda, festival juror. It’s no wonder that cabaret fans bought tickets to the event, even though the prices were not the lowest. You had to pay up to PLN 280 for the competition evening, and PLN 350 to participate in Sunday’s final.

There were references to Polsat’s behavior on stage. Magdalena Furmanek from the Kruki i Wrona cabaret sang a song about Zygmunt Solorz, the owner of the station. The group won the Grand Pig of the Rybnik Cabaret Autumn, and the comedian commented on the situation in Polsat in an interview with “Wyborcza”: “The cabaret programs have been recorded, but they are not broadcast, it is primarily a loss for the viewers, because we try to do our job as best as we can, create new sketches, putting all our hearts into them. We do not agree to our work being disregarded in this way. This situation has touched our entire community. Reports from the event show that due to tensions with Polsat, this year’s theme of “Ryjka” referred to politics much less often than usual, and comedians were more likely to bash the station, which was previously friendly with cabarets.
