Krzysztof Dzierma on the role of a parish priest in the series “U Pana Boga…”. An unusual involvement from a director

The director himself, Jacek Bromski, persuaded him to play the role of parish priest Antoni from Królowy Most in the series “U Pana Boga…”. He saw him in a play at the Mały Theater in Warsaw. Dzierma accepted the offer without much resistance and also convinced the director to shoot in the church in Sokółka. In 2007, he recalled in one of them:

I tricked Bromski into choosing this particular church because I live nearby and I know that, together with the priest’s farm buildings around it, it is perfect for the film. During the first film, when I was going to shoot, I said to my wife: just stay away from me, because I have to live in celibacy.

Dzierma’s name has already become a part of film history. This is the only opportunity to admire him on screen

The actor is not an actor by profession, but a composer, and on a daily basis he works as a music consultant of the Białystok Puppet Theater. So it was a unique opportunity to see him on film. The series of films “U Pana Boga za piecem”, “U Pana Boga w gardenek” and “U Pana Boga za minią” was a debut that turned out to be a breakthrough in his career. Dzierma’s portrayal of parish priest Antoni remains permanently in the memory of film fans, even they “glued” him to the character he was playing. Despite many offers of roles coming to Dzierma, he did not decide to pursue an acting career. He explained his decision:

I’m not an actor after all. And if so, let’s call it an actor of one role. A good actor can play anything. And I don’t know if I can.
