During the conversation, he admitted that work on the new production was significantly delayed due to the work of screenwriters in Hollywood. While the demonstrations continued, he focused on assembling the final overall story and also began work on the next title. He did not want to reveal too many details, but it is known that it will be a western, with filming probably starting in March 2024.

But that’s not the end. Scott managed to assemble the previously created 90 minutes of the second part of “Gladiator”. At the same time, he revealed that the iconic scene from the original, in which Russell Crowe played the main character, was created completely by accident and was added to the whole at the last minute. – The hand shot was the last one in the regular shooting time. Russell didn’t show up in Italy, it was his understudy. He was standing in a field and smoking. I told him to get out of the field, it was summer, dry. He apologized, and as he was leaving, he did this thing with his hand. I told him to stop and for someone to bring a camera. We followed that hand. It became a catalyst for the motif of immortality or heaven, and it was discovered spontaneously, on the last day, he recalled.

Scott reveals what he thinks about superhero movies. In the past, he could have created one himself

At some point, the conversation turned to superhero productions. Scott revealed that in the past he received an offer to make a story about one of the heroes, but, as you can guess, he refused. – I was offered it, but I said: “No, thank you, it’s not for me.” I’ve done two or three superhero movies myself, he said, explaining after a moment what exactly he meant. – I think that Ellen Ripley is a superhero in the “Alien” movies. I think Russell Crowe is the superhero in Gladiator. And the super-antihero in “Blade Runner.” The difference is that these f***ing stories are better, he said bluntly.

At the same time, he admitted that a few proposals interested him, including: from 1978 or some installments with Batman in the main role, but he still doesn’t like this type of genre.
