A wool coat is quite expensive. Of course, there is something to pay for, because it is an investment for years. Wool is an extremely durable material that, with proper care, will last for more than a few seasons. In addition, wool has excellent insulating and antibacterial properties and does not absorb odor. It is very warm on colder days, but also light and breathable. In a word, a woolen coat is perfect for winter. I quickly realized that I would have to pay at least several hundred zlotys for a decent woolen coat. However, I decided to check the offer of second-hand shops first.

Before you spend a fortune, check out the second-hand stores. This does not have to be the delivery day
The largest selection in second-hand stores is definitely on the day of delivery. If you are not afraid of crowds and a tense atmosphere, the hunt can be really successful. It’s worse if such conditions discourage you from entering at the very beginning, which is why I usually go to second-hand stores on the day of sale or in the morning. Of course, there are much fewer clothes, but you can still look around. Currently, second-hand stores have a really large selection of different types of coats that can be easily modified to suit your needs. This time, however, I found the perfect one. At the end of the hangers I saw a caramel coat with a very classic cut and in my size.

Its only flaw was slight pilling on the elbows and a slightly torn button. I would have bought it anyway, but the price tag left me stunned. It is a 100% wool coat with a viscose lining. A real gem! Prices in second-hand stores, as well as in chain stores, have also gone up, but on the day of sale it cost only PLN 15!
PLN 15 instead of PLN 1,285! This is a model from a well-known British brand
The coat is really carefully sewn and extremely pleasant to the touch. I’m not particularly obsessed with brands, but the clear inscription on the tag made me want to check what was behind the name: Karen Miller.

It turned out to be the brand of a famous premium clothing designer who started creating in 1981! The caramel coats on Karen Miller’s website cost around £400 at regular price. Some of them are currently discounted at £257, or approximately PLN 1,285.

A special program for washing wool in the washing machine easily eliminated the specific second-hand shop smell, and a regular clothes shaver from Lidl quickly removed the pilling. The coat wears brilliantly! I strongly encourage you to search for used clothes. This is not only an opportunity to save money, but also satisfaction and a very ecological solution.
