New Sejm, new Poland – one might say. And there is something to it, as political debates in the Sejm have not enjoyed such popularity for a long time. Yes, Sejm sessions were also broadcast earlier. They were watched by a group of enthusiasts that would not fill even half of the seats at the PGE Narodowy. Yes, the first day of the Sejm after the previous elections exceeded the magical threshold of 100,000 views, but this has nothing to do with the results from 2023.

Comments have been strategically disabled on the broadcasts, but it is clear that viewers are demanding more, as the Na Czasie tab on YouTube is currently filled with politically themed videos. There is also Sławomir Mentzen (twice), Zbigniew Ziobro’s devilish laughter from Tuesday, and a conversation with Krzysztof Bosak, and for dessert, Szymon Hołownia also joined in. Sejm, what do you do to make you so attractive?
The previous Law and Justice governments already fired up the imagination of Internet creators. Virtually every PiS scandal resulted in a flood of memes, but when political reality began to intrude a little too much into ordinary life, memes became a weapon in the citizen’s fight against the system. After the change of government, viewers clearly need to check what politicians are doing in the Sejm, which we have somewhat ignored in recent years.
Although there is a strong downward trend in the views of online broadcasts of Sejm sessions, the first interest undoubtedly proves that something has changed among younger viewers. The new political chapter is also new fuel for new politicians and the new marshal (contemptuously called “rotary” by the old government). The first day of the meeting showed that something was going to happen – the PiS grilling had started and the subsequent speeches of Jarosław Kaczyński and , which appeared on YouTube, were not much different. Is it possible that pathostreams are no longer enough and now the Parliament will be the main provider of impressions and entertainment? Time will tell.
