Digital account production triumphed over traditional media at the 2023 ITV Awards

After a three-year hiatus (two of which were virtual editions), the ITV Awards were reactivated in all their splendor and communicators and artists were once again summoned in person to their ceremonial home, the Teatro Centro de Arte, to host a new gala presentation that recognizes the best of national television and entertainment.

This year, the awards organization, celebrating its twenty-seventh edition, launched three new categories to showcase work in digital media. Last year, the ITV awards, organized by the Higher University Institute of Television Studies, already included the honors of the best senior and junior Instagram accounts, as well as the best YouTuber.

Those medals went to actors Alex Vizuete, Viviana Salame and Moisés Pico, better known as Logan, respectively.

The new categories contested in the evening were the best digital information media, which was awarded to La Posta EC and received by its founders Luis Eduardo Vivanco and Andersson Boscán; best digital sports account, won by GolTV Ecuador; and best digital entertainment account went to KWA, produced by brothers Víctor and David Bermeo.

They were also at the gala to receive their trophies and seemed very excited about the win. “It is reassuring that Ecuadorian gastronomy is highlighted in these awards,” said David in his acceptance speech.

Other names from the digital sphere were recognized, but in the Entertainment categories, including names and titles of productions made in both traditional and digital media. Jonathan Estrada won two awards in this industry: for the best variety program, for The hollowa show that airs on YouTube and beats the traditional one In touch (Ecuavisa) and Master Chef Ecuador (Teleamazonas); and as the best host of a variety show. “I beat In touch!”, the Quito actor and producer said proudly.
