He scolded the jurors. He wasn’t ashamed of crying either. Szymon Hołownia hosted “Got Talent” for years

Before Szymon Ho³ownia got involved in politics, he worked for years as a journalist. He gained the greatest recognition for hosting the “Got Talent” program, in which he appeared for the 12th edition until 2019, where, together with Marcin Prokop, he entertained the audience and TV viewers. On the occasion of his taking up the position of Speaker of the Sejm, we recall Szymon Ho³ownia’s characteristic moments in the TVN program.

Szymon Hołownia made his debut as the host of “Got Talent” in the first episode of the show in 2008. His adventure with the program lasted 11 years, and the last time viewers could see him in this role was on November 30, 2019, when the finale of the 12th edition of the program took place.

“Lots of great people behind the scenes, on stage. Long days and evenings with the best team in the world. Creating a duet (and this is a very difficult thing) with Marcin. New television skills. Good (and sometimes difficult) emotions… I’m leaving ‘I have talent’, because I gave this program everything I could give, and when something ends, something begins” – with these words he said goodbye to the program’s viewers in a post on Facebook after the broadcast of the last episode with his participation.

Hołownia was both a good and bad cop in “Got Talent”.

Over the years, Szymon Hołownia has become known as a host who is not afraid to express his opinion loudly and protest if something happened on stage that should not have happened. This was the case, for example, during the sixth edition, when a certain Paweł Budziński decided to try his hand at the show. The participant decided to recite the obscene “obscene fairy tale” by Aleksander Fredro.

This did not please the host, who decided to approach the jurors after the performance and warn them for their lack of appropriate reaction. “You’re crazy. You’re not normal,” he said. However, he also criticized the participant: “You went for cheap and simple tricks. It was embarrassing.”

However, Szymon Hołownia, as the host of “Got Talent”, was much more known as an extremely sensitive and empathetic person. In the 11th edition of the show, 21-year-old Anuujin Ganchimeg from Mongolia presented her vocal skills. The young girl opened up in the program and told a moving story about searching for a better life in Poland.

“My brother and I got through homelessness and the orphanage. The fact that I ended up in Poland was thanks to my aunt, who decided that I needed to get out of this Mongolian vegetation, where there was no past,” she confessed. These words and then her phenomenal singing made Szymon Hołownia shed tears. “We are looking not so much for talents, but for phenomena… And this is probably the canonical definition of what such a phenomenon is – said Marcin Prokop. “Absolutely (…). It was moving,” added Hołownia.

With Prokop, they indulged in a lot, but they always managed to leave with good taste

After Hołownia left the program, many people couldn’t imagine “Got Talent” without him. Together with Marcin Prokop, he created a unique duo of presenters who were distinguished by a great sense of humor, in which one could feel ease and real sympathy between them.

This is clearly visible in the recording published by TVN after Hołownia left the program. Video titled “” presents a lot of behind-the-scenes moments where the hosts often joked and even teased each other, after which no one held any grudges.

Their antics were often even suggestive. This is clearly visible in the recording, where it was decided to show the moment when Hołownia, after the participants’ performance, says to Prokop: “God, golden rain!”, to which he replied: “I will do it for you in a moment. Don’t worry!” The current Speaker of the Sejm then reacted with a fit of laughter.

In 2021, Hołownia’s place in the program was taken by comedian Michał Kempa, but after two editions he resigned from the production. However, in the upcoming version of the show, we will not see Marcin Prokop in this role, as he has been promoted to the position of juror. Agnieszka Woźniak-Starak and Jan Pirowski become new hosts, and Julia Wieniawa will sit as a juror for the first time.
