““Wheel of Fortune” is a legendary game show format, rooted in American origins, whose debut on the Polish screen took place on October 2, 1992. The entertainment program was broadcast in Poland with breaks, in the years 1992-1998, then 2007-2009, to finally return to TVP2 band in 2017. The current host of “Wheel of Fortune” is Norbert “Norbi” Dudziuk, accompanied by Izabella Krzan. It is produced by Telewizja Polska independently, in ATM Studio.
However, there have been changes in the recent history of “Wheel of Fortune”. Two years after the return of the game show to TV Two, the host was replaced. Norbi, the host of “Jaka to melodia”, took over the program, and Rafa³ Brzozowski went the other way.
Changes, changes. No premieres
The program, inextricably associated with the iconic wheel and the board, has been one of the most frequently watched by Poles for years. Hence, the decision made by the TVP management may seem shocking. As reported by virtualmedia.pl, the winter schedule will include no premiere episodes of “Wheel of Fortune” for the first time in years.
Thus, instead of new episodes, TV viewers will watch replays of the game show. The last premiere of the thirteenth series of the program is scheduled to be shown on Saturday, November 25, 2023. From Sunday, November 26, old episodes from the previous, 12th season are available.
We will, however, watch replays. The viewership results are behind them
But does this mean the permanent end of the format? Not necessarily. The TVP press office confirms that reruns of the program are also very popular among viewers. Just as eagerly as the premieres. They presented hard data for this:
Telewizja Polska, like other stations, plans both premieres and reruns in its schedule. Viewership results show that viewers are eager to watch not only the premiere episodes of the game show “Wheel of Fortune” (the average audience for premiere episodes in 2020-2023 is 1.34 million viewers, share of 15.35%), but also those that have already been previously broadcast (the average audience of replay episodes in the afternoon slot in 2020-2022 is 1.37 million viewers, share 16.85%).

For now, we only know the fate of the remaining game shows in the Polish Television’s portfolio. In December, TVP plans to continue broadcasting the premiere episodes of “One of ten” (TVP1) and “Jaka to melodia?” (also TVP1).
