Dr. Charles Puza is a dermatologist who willingly shares his knowledge with followers on social media. It tells you how to properly care for your skin and hair to avoid making common mistakes. It turns out that one of them probably dominates almost everyone’s beauty routine. The dermatologist points out that it is best to eliminate it immediately.
Body wash sponge. A dermatologist warns against using it
In one of his TikTok videos, Dr. Charles Puza decided to debunk several myths related to body care. One of them is the use of sponges and washcloths for washing the body, which many people use. The dermatologist noted in the video that all such products are like a “bag of bacteria”. All because it is difficult to dry properly after washing, especially in a humid bathroom. This leads to the accumulation and multiplication of bacteria that can negatively affect the condition of the skin.
Sponges and washcloths give the illusion of better washing of the skin. In fact, we spread bacteria that accumulate inside the fibers. Rubbing the body may also damage the skin if the material from which the sponge is made is too hard and rough. Sponges should absolutely not be used by people with acne on their body, because they can damage the inflammation and spread it all over the skin.
What to use instead of a sponge? The solution is clear
Dr. Charles Puza recommends using your own hands to wash your body instead of sponges and washcloths. They will be perfect for spreading the gel, and we won’t have to worry about it harming the skin. However, in the comments section under the material, there were many voices in which people could not imagine washing their bodies without a washcloth. They are not convinced even by the dermatologist’s recommendation. Others point out that they use an alternative, i.e. silicone washers, which are easier to clean and dry.
Should I use my hands?! This is some joke…
I use a silicone washcloth. It can be easily dried and disinfected.
I’ll feel dirty just using my hands.
I have never used sponges and I don’t intend to.
