In the list of names used by civil registry officials, the Polish Language Council indicated permitted examples, such as Abigail, Karmen, Noemi and Beatrycze. The latter is an exceptional rarity, it has not been given to any girl in 2023. But one of them has been starting to become a real sensation for some time now.

According to data collected by the website, in the first half of 2023, i.e. from January 1 to June 30, the name Nel was given 153 times. In 2022, it appeared 345 times (most often in the Masovian and Greater Poland voivodeships, 49 times each), while in 2021 – 306 times. The fact that it is becoming more and more popular in Poland can be proven, among others, by: the fact that in 2002 it was given to only 9 girls, in 2018 this number increased to 213.
