After the abrupt separation of one of Ecuador’s most important groups in 2007, the public’s desire to officially say goodbye remained. The members of Cruks and Karnak, Sergio and Andrés Sacoto, Pablo Estrella and Pablo Santacruz were also eager to say goodbye to the stages as a band.

A month and a half after I did this, The quartet is preparing a series of concerts for the Juntos por Última Vez tour, which will go to different cities in the country. They started last October 28 in Cuenca and tomorrow they will sing at Latacunga in the Cactus Brunch area at 8pm.

During these 17 years of separation, the members, true to their passions, remained involved in the music world. In an interview with Diario EL UNIVERSO, Cruks en Karnak talks about his past and future and explains the reason for this emotional reunion.

What was everyone doing before this reunion?

Star: Well, I started touring with a band called Soda Infinito, a tribute to Soda Stereo. Except that, I am active with the projects here in my recording studio in Quito. I’ve collaborated with artists like Danilo Parra, Ricardo Williams and more. I try to do as much as possible and am open to production. So, I have had different facets, but everything revolved around music. I remember learning to play guitar at the age of 9 through the influences of my father, who listened to boleros, gaits and tangos. Later, when the bug of stone, At the age of 12 I said my dream would be to work and make a living from music, so I’ve always stuck to that.

Santa Cruz: Well, I live dedicated to teaching in the academic field, well I teach music production at a university. I also have other projects that I will be playing with, and as a producer I have my recording studio where I have worked on both artistic and commercial projects. Actually connected to art on stage, back there in the studio and from the classrooms.

Sergio Sacoto and how music became his weapon of power: Among the noise and chaos, I found myself singing

What will Cruks’ last concerts be like?

S. Sacoto: We were in Cuenca two weeks ago, where it was the first of the shows and it was beautiful. People were enthusiastic about the songs and we are also working on structuring the songs Show In a very cool way, it’s a very big stage with screens where we allow ourselves pleasures that we could never do in the days of Cruks, because these resources didn’t exist, or maybe they did exist, but only for Michael Jackson (laughs). Now we can allow ourselves the pleasure of creating video accompaniments to the songs, creating a symbiosis between the songs and creating a direct effect on the audience. There is a Show of spectacular lights and we try to move and electrify people from start to finish. And I think we achieved that in Cuenca.

What do you think of Cruks’ final farewell?

Star: It’s like an expectation, even though I don’t like to have a lot because I prefer things to surprise me, but I think Something that drives us to do this whole tour is that we can connect with the generations that listened to the band and carry on the legacy. what we had built and fought for years ago. All this time there has also been a movement, an evolution of the audience and what I want or hope is to be able to reach them and show them what we are.

A. Sacoto: I am infinitely happy to be with Sergio, with the Pablos to play again and to remember the time of Crucks, which was very beautiful from the stage and during rehearsals. I think the end of the band in 2006 was something very necessary for all of us to grow. evolve and find our paths. So it was really cool to meet again today, I’m happy. I love it, and the guys have also helped me rediscover myself as a bass player, because I’ve hardly played bass in recent years, being more as a producer and composer. I’m happy.

Is this the final end of Cruks?

Star: Never say never, but right now that’s how things stand. We will be there until December 31st and who knows, but for now these are the only chances to see us live.
