Hygienic pads are eagerly used by women of all ages. However, it turns out that their daily use may have serious consequences. A urogynecological physiotherapist warns against wearing them regularly.

Panty liners are very popular among women. Many of them wear them every day and consider them a basic product among the hygiene products of a woman who takes care of herself. They are thin, invisible and effectively absorb secretions, minor bleeding or urine when mild leakage is not controlled. But is it healthy to wear them all the time?

Seemingly hygienic, but wearing them regularly may turn out to be not so hygienically safe. This is confirmed by a urogynecological physiotherapist who can be found on Instagram under the pseudonym @nicoletta.zurek.fizjo. In one of the videos, she highlighted 3 facts about wearing pads.

  1. They limit air access to the vagina.
  2. Wearing them too often may cause increased intimate infections.
  3. They should only be used during menstruation or when using vaginal pessaries.

Dr. Anna Fuchs, a specialist gynecologist and obstetrician from Katowice, also talks about the effects of wearing panty liners every day. She has an Instagram profile where she publishes content related to her work. The doctor touched on the topic of women’s carrying. According to her, they constitute a real threat to health, contributing to recurrent intimate infections, burning and itching.

The basic feature of sanitary pads is absorbency. When our vaginal discharge, but also – due to proximity – bacteria from the anus and urethra, reach the absorbent pad – bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms have excellent conditions for development. […]. and… the infection is ready! […] Let’s allow ourselves some ‘national ventilation’, let’s avoid plastic, polyester panties and absorbent pads.
