His father wanted him to become a lawyer, while his mother saw him as a doctor or priest. he had different, but no less ambitious plans for his life. Since childhood, he wanted to perform on stage and initially planned an acting career. After two unsuccessful attempts to get a certificate at the Łódź Film School, he decided to try his hand at music.

Although he already tried his hand at high school, he won, among others, jazz competition “Microphone for everyone”, Czerwono-Czarni was his ticket to the music industry, in which he became a soloist from 1966. During this time, he promoted many things, including: “Twenty years maybe less” or “Be the girl of my dreams”, which, despite the passage of time, are still popular among listeners. In 1972, he decided to leave the group and shortly thereafter found his own band. His promising career was interrupted by a car accident, after which he spent a year recovering. He returned to the stage with his solo album “Bądź happy”, with which he again conquered the charts. He also started giving concerts regularly, not only in Poland, but also in, among others, former Yugoslavia, Hungary or for the Polish audience in the USA and Canada.

In 2006, the singer’s life turned upside down when doctors diagnosed him with esophageal cancer. He was not particularly surprised by this information, because he had been struggling with cigarette addiction since he was about 12 years old. He claimed that he had tried to quit smoking several times, but to no avail. – I tried, but it harmed my vocal cords, which were accustomed to tobacco. When I stopped smoking, I became increasingly hoarse because my vocal cords were addicted to nicotine – . He underwent chemotherapy and radiation, but the treatment was ineffective and specialists suggested surgery, which he reportedly refused to undergo. He was afraid that he would lose his voice.
March 25, 2023 marked 16 years since the death of Jacek Lech. Only now it turned out that the rumors about his reluctance to undergo the procedure were not true. As he informs, his last partner and would-be third wife, Urszula Kopeć, denied it. She admitted that they asked many specialists for help and, despite concerns about the negative effects of the operation, the singer agreed to undergo it. Although everything went well, unfortunately he did not wake up from the coma and died a few days later.
